Dihydrocodeine is an opioid analgesic for the relief of moderate to severe pain. This potent painkiller is often used when standard painkillers such as paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen have failed to provide relief.

> Codeine is normally administered in cases where relief from a cough is required. Dihydrocodeine 30 mg is a stronger anti-tussive agent (cough suppressant) than codeine and oftentimes makes for a better remedy.

> In addition to being a better alternative to codeine, this analgesic is also approximately twice as potent as tramadol (another opiate pain reliever). It has been suggested that a 60 mg dihydrocodeine dosage, of controlled-release formulation, provides the same pain relief as a tramadol 100 mg dose.

Dihydrocodeine Dosage & Usage Instructions
> The following usage guidelines may be applied when using dihydrocodeine:
> The tablets or capsules are to be swallowed in whole form with at least 240ml (8 ounces) of water (which is a standard glass).
> You may take the medication before or after meals.
> Do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking the tablets. This is to minimise the event of nausea.
> Dihydrocodeine Side Effects
> Side effects are mild and tolerable when the treatment is used as directed:
> This product can cause mental and/or mood changes. The active ingredient is converted to dihydromorphine (or morphine) and in some cases this can occur to a greater extent or at a quicker rate which may result in adverse effects. In the event of breathing problems, such as shallow breathing or difficulty breathing, you should seek medical attention immediately.
> Nausea, vomiting, constipation, light-headedness and dry mouth can sometimes occur when using this painkiller. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, you can contact your doctor for medical advice.
> When using this medication, it is important not to use any other medication that also contains dihydrocodeine at the same time in order to avoid adverse side effects
